[3][4][5] He is well-known for his strong voice and incorporation of R&B and hip hop,[2and has been recognized as a pioneer of soul-trap.Wave became famous thanks to the single "Heart on Ice", which went viral on YouTube as well as TikTok and hit 25 on the Billboard Hot 100. Wave's debut album Ghetto Gospel (1999) reached the top 10 spot on the US Billboard 200. The second album of Wave"Prayer 4 Love (2020), came in at number 2 on the Billboard 200.[9It also included the smash hit "Rags2Riches", that was a top 12 hit in the Hot 100. His third album, SoulFly (2021), was his debut album , peaking at #1. It was his first top-chart album. Wave's career started in 2016, when he released the first installment of his mixtape Hunger Games Vol.1. Wave released several mixtapes before signing with Alamo Records. He released his mixtape PTSD on June 14, 2019, which featured the hit song "Heart on Ice". The song became a viral success on YouTube and TikTok. It was ranked 25 on the Billboard Hot 100. [7] Wave's debut album, Ghetto Gospel, was released on November 1, 2019. It reached number 10 on the US Billboard 200. On April 3, 2020 Rod Wave released his second album, "Pray 4 Love". It was released at the 2nd spot on the Billboard 200. A deluxe edition followed on August 7. The majority of songs from the album charted on the Billboard Hot 100. "S" (featuring ATR son Son) made it to number 12 on the Hot 100. It became the top-charting track of the album. 14 On August 11, 2020, Wave was included on the XXL's 2020 freshman class. [15] In July 2020, Wave revealed during an interview that they were working on their third album, originally planned for release on August 27 20th, 2020. The singer revealed the tracks on his album SoulFly on March 6 2021. [16][17] The album also contains songs "Street Runner" and "Tombstone", his highest-charting track, which reached number 11 on the Hot 100. In the year 2021's final days, Wave's release of the song "Nirvana" caused some controversy because many regarded the song as a suicide note in which Wave categorically denied. [20]
