Lisa Edelstein (born Lisa Edelstein) is an American actor best known for playing House in Fox's medical drama House. Her family was from Wayne and was raised in a strict Jewish tradition. At the age of 18, she emigrated into New York City to study at the Tisch School for the Arts. She was soon involved in club culture, causing enough of a stir that she caught the interest of the media. She used both her training in music and fame to write and perform in a new musical, Positive Me. Awake In the Wild Side was her next assignment. When it ended up going off the air, she was able to appear in films and television production, initially in short roles and gradually established herself as an actress.
